XSB's company name standardizer matches company names to a standard list of names. Its engine uses statistical matching techniques, domain knowledge of companies and their types, inter-company associations and synonyms. The matching algorithm produces a confidence score for each match based on weights of the matching words. Finally, if a matched name of a company is not found in the standard list of company names, the original name is cleaned of general company acronyms, such as CO, LLC, etc., and added to the list.
