XSB NAICS Classifier
This application was created to provide businesses with a web-based Coherent View® of Small, Minority, Disadvantaged businesses. Public sources of supplier data were aggregated and classified according to the NAICS taxonomy. It is important to note that supplier databases rely on self-reported data. Many suppliers find it difficult to determine the correct NAICS code for their business making these public databases somewhat inaccurate.
The ODC maps suppliers to the NAICS taxonomy by reasoning over the words suppliers use to describe themselves. This tool enables a user to invoke a number of different searches to locate potential suppliers and to accurately determine supplier capabilities:
- The NAICS Code Search allows a user to search by keyword(s) to determine to which NAICS category a particular business activity or service would be classified
- The Capabilities Search allows a user to search the database using keyword descriptions of the supplier’s primary service or business activity. Results presented can then be filtered based on Company name, State, or Zip code
- The Company Name Search allows the user to search for available vendor data based on the vendor's company name
