Executive Management Profiles


Mr. Rupert Hopkins, President & Chief Executive Officer:
Mr. Rupert Hopkins is President & CEO of XSB, Inc. and is responsible for guiding the company’s strategic vision and business strategy. Mr. Hopkins manages the company’s operations, and together with Dr. David Warren, oversees product development. Prior to founding XSB, Inc. in 1998, Mr. Hopkins served as the Principal Investigator for the Center for Alternate Sources of Parts (CASP), an advanced supply chain management project funded under the Advanced Logistics Program at the United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

Mr. Hopkins is internationally known for his work in Defense Diversification and has served as an advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Defense through the Department of Defense’s Office of Economic Adjustment. He has also served as an advisor to the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Hopkins' work in industrial productivity and in the development of High Performance Workplace Organizations was recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration and by the U.S. Departments of Labor and Defense, as well as the Economic Development Administration.

Mr. Hopkins has more than 25 years of business management experience, specifically in the area of sales, marketing, business diversification and planning, and operations management. His vast experience in business planning and development has been the driving force behind XSB's rapid growth and early commercial successes.


Mr. Richard J. Gill, Chief Financial Officer:
Mr. Richard Gill brings a wealth of knowledge and over 25 years of experience in financial administration and taxation to XSB, Inc. where he has served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since the company's inception in 1998.

Prior to joining XSB, Inc., Mr. Gill worked for several years with Coopers and Lybrand (PriceWaterhouse Coopers) before becoming Controller for Transcontrol Corporation, a division of Siemens A.G. Throughout his diverse career in Financial Management, Mr. Gill has also served as Chief Financial Officer for United Biomedical Inc., a biotech firm with a specialization in synthetic compounds, and was a Member of the Board of Directors and CFO of Lourdes Industries Inc., a regional defense firm.

In 1994, Mr. Gill established R.J. Gill Company, a Certified Public Accounting Firm specializing in start-up and hi-tech operations as well as working with New York State on regional "Defense Diversification" issues.

Mr. Gill has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1977 and earned his Masters Degree in Business in 1984.


Dr. David S. Warren, Ph.D., Vice-President of Sciences:
Dr. David S. Warren Ph.D., is a co-founder of XSB, Inc., and serves as the company's Vice-President of Sciences, directing product and technology development and overseeing the entire technical team. During his tenure at XSB, Inc., Dr. Warren has been the principal architect of XSB's core logic engine which has provided the foundation upon which all of our classification, reasoning, and data management tools are built.

Dr. Warren is a world-renowned Computer Scientist in the field of Logic Programming, a former Chairman of the Stony Brook University Computer Science Department (1996-1999), and a Fellow of the ACM. Dr. Warren’s work and research has centered on a variety of topics in the field of logic programming. He initiated and led the more than 20-year effort to organize the XSB tabled logic programming community, and has spent much of his career focusing on the design and development of the open source XSB tabled logic programming system. Dr. Warren is credited with having authored more than 70 technical papers that were published in major conferences and journals on topics relating to logic programming and has served as the Principal Investigator on multiple research grants from a variety of Government agencies.

Dr. Warren received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Michigan in 1979.
